scientifical fun (computer quasi-science, mathematics, games)
Esoteric programming languages
are programming languages invented mainly for the fun of it.
You will find there some of my creations in this field:
language(s), interpreter(s), and other programs.
Generalized Langton's Ants (2D automatons):
these are mathematical animals with hardly predictible (yet deterministic)
trajectories. I wrote two programs to study them at a closer distance.
Attacking Queens: how many queens can you place on a D-dimensional hyperboard of size N so that no two queens attack themselves ? Source code and (Windows) executables.
MineSweeper:
A bit of strategy, links to some powerful automatic solvers, and other links.
Programming contests: program and source code around my participation in a few contests - mainly the POTM. If you have played in the POTM you may be interested in this section.
2001-Augustus: Good news: almost all advertisement nuisances have disappeared. (The reason is, if course, that I now pay to maintain this site... But it's cheap enough.) So I removed or reduced the "Homestead woes" sections.
2001-May-20: Added the "what's new" section. Revamped all top and bottom navigation links (well, almost all) and moved some content around. Minor content update, specially in the contests section.
199X-XX-XX: it all began in the XX-th century... I think. (But does that century end on 1999-12-31, 2000-12-31, or 2001-09-10 ?)
In some indefinite future, maybe:
Sinclair QL stuff. (If you don't know, this computer is still alive !
Have a look at Thierry Godefroy's site.)
Short stories (in french). Drawings. Pictures (like or unlike this one taken in Paris).
